Please vote “Helpful” or Mark as “Answer” as appropriate.Based on the Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime download page: Just takes a click to give thanks for a helpful post or answer. Saberman, I have not figured this out, but I hope you get the answer and share your findings for others who may require this information. If I run into a similar situation again, I would like to know this forum can actually help with the steps needed without I have run into a situation myself needing this approach and did not find a complete answer. If you have information for helping answer the question, This may be such a case the OP is requesting help with. It may be in most circumstances the advice given is the best approach however, there comes a time when the steps requested are necessary and prudent. I actually think the best approach is to simply leave the 2007 version alone. Then do pursue un-installing the 2007 runtime, but experience shows you are far better off just leaving that previous version alone. Now if you have extra time, like extra support calls, and want to deal with un-installing a major part of the office suite, It is HIGHLY un-likely you are using the file extension to launch your application (you are using a shortcut). This in effect means that a runtime-uninstall should not and in fact DOES NOT actually un-install Access!

Worse, is if users have full edition of office 2007 and Access, then you risk MESSING UP their computer.įew realize that the 2007 runtime and full edition of Access install to the EXACT SAME location and share the SAME. I would not worry nor care about that older version. So install whatever newer version of the runtime you need. In place of the “nasty” issue of un-installing such software, just leave it alone and “move on”. And often a clean un-install requires a re-boot of the computer (more pain, more wasted time). I been there, done that, and I suggest just simply to leave that previous version alone, and reduce your support calls by a large margin. You wind up with a half installed mess of a program (and anything else that needs the 2007 runtime will now fail). Worse is you STILL often wind up with the product not un-installing. One “un-cooperating” computer, and you can chew up several hours on ONE machine trying to un-install the previous version of office/access runtime.

My experience in attempting to un-install software gives rise to “many” issues. There can be MANY support issues when attempting to un-install some application.ĭisk cost is very low, and thus I would simply install the later version of the runtime, and be done with this issue. Their track record it will take three months for them to acknowledge it and over a year to fix it.

This means that Microsoft broke an interface between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 just like they did to ADO in SP2 for Windows 7. If we copy the source database (.accdb) to the Windows 10 system and compile it the compiled version works fine. On the Windows 10 system with a full version of Access 2007 installed. It works fine on all systems from 8.1 and down with either a full version of Access 2007 installed or the Runtime version of Access 2007 installed. We have anĪpplication compiled on a Windows 8.1 system with a full version of Access 2007. They also have a full version of Access 2007 installed. We have a client running Windows 10 with Office Home and Business (Office 365) installed (which does not include Access). Actually, you don't even need to switch versions Of course the fact that the changes Microsoft made in Access 2010 cause many products developed and compiled under Access 2007 to blowup under Access 2010 is just standard operating procedure for Microsoft. So if the user is upgrading to a product using Access 2010 Runtime it follows that Access 2007 Runtime MUST be uninstalled to confirm to Microsoft's Do you think it was a good idea to keep the same GUID for all versions of Access past 2007 so you can't invoke the one you want via ?Īccording to Microsoft you should not install two versions of Access on the same machine.
